Signing of Academic Exchange agreement between the Kyoto College of
Graduate Studies for Informatics and Cheju National University in the
Republic of Korea

Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics faculty members appointed as consultative committee members of the Korean Information Security Agency.
Korea Information Security Agency (KISA) is an organization under the Korea's Ministry of Information and Communications (corresponding to Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) dealing with the domestic information security policies in general.
In May, 2005, Dr. Lee Hong Sub, the CEO of KISA, visited the Kyoto College of Graduate
Studies for Informatics (KCGI), to discuss opportunities for collaborative activities between KCGI and KISA in the context of Japan-Korea academic exchange relations.
On this day, two KCGI faculty members, Professors Ko Hong Seung and Shozo Naito were appointed the consultative committee members of KISA. As such, their expert opinions and suggestions about the information security policies can be sought by KISA. Incidentally, Professor Shozo Naito, is the first Japanese to be appointed to this post.
Both professors are scheduled to participate in a seminar jointly sponsored by KISA and the
Information-Technology Promotion Agency, Japan to be held in Seoul in November as consultative committee members.

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and Korea University's Graduate School of Information Security jointly host a Japan-Korea collaborative seminar.
Last November 2004, the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and
Korea University's Graduate School of Information Security signed an academic & research exchange agreement to promote research and the education development activities in information security.
As the part of the exchange, the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and Korea University's Graduate School of Information Security jointly hosted the Japan-Korea collaborative seminar "On the Application of ICT in the Ubiquitous Society of Japan and Korea - A Focus on Information Security" at Cheju, Korea from August 24-25, 2005.
In attendance were various faculty members of both institutions as well as participants from Korean governmental institutions (
Korea Information Security Agency (KISA) and
Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), and some Japanese private enterprises (such as NTT Data Institute of Management Consulting, Inc. (NTT Data IMC), Mitsui Global Strategic Studies Institute (MGSSI) and the Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc.) who presented reports and participated in discussions about the challenges and issues surrounding the implementation of ubiquitous society. The participants plan to establish a Japan-Korea Information Security Forum in the future. Furthermore, they also plan to jointly host in Kyoto an International Information Security Seminar with the participation of Vietnam in October 2006.

Korea's Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) sign business exchange agreement.
The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) signed a business exchange agreement with
Korea's Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) at Cheju, Korea in August 24, 2005. The purpose of this agreement is to promote joint research activities between the two organizations on information security technology in a ubiquitous society.
Established in 1976 as a non-profit information and communication research institute, ETRI is currently under Korea's Ministry of Science and Technology. It is currently engaged in developing various technologies related to IPv4/IPv6 conversion, Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB), etc.
Next year., KCGI and ETRI plan to hold a joint seminar on Information Security Technology Research and Development (R&D) towards a Ubiquitous Society in Japan.

An agreement to promote academic exchange on information security between Kyoto Computer Gakuin Group's Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and Korea Information Security Agency (KISA) (an organization under Korea's Ministry of Information and Communication) was announced in a news conference held last May 26, 2005 at the Kyoto Computer Gakuin, with KISA CEO Lee Hong Sub in attendance. A collaborative Japan-Korea Expert's meeting on Information Security will be held in August 2005 at Cheju, Korea.
The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) is concluding an academic tie up on the promotion of joint research in the field of information security with Korea University as well as plans to organize a "Japan-Korea Information Security Forum" with KISA. Efforts will be made to promote the exchange of technical knowledge and human resource development on topics such as privacy protection and securing basic information infrastructure under emergency situations.
According to KISA CEO Lee Hong Sub, "Though the public and private sectors in Korea are equipped with internet infrastructure, these sectors are faced with problems related to unlawful or unauthorized computer access. It is important to increase the national awareness on information security and we look forward to collaborating with KCGI on seeking solutions to these issues."
